I was away from Eastbourne last week, visiting friends and family.

Everywhere I went, I found myself drawn to community noticeboards — curious about what was happening, what people were making, and how each place gathers itself together.

It got me thinking about what makes Eastbourne feel like home — not just the high-profile events, but the smaller things in the background that give the place its shape. Here’s what caught my attention this week…

Definitely one to have on your radar
Springle is coming to Hailsham — giant illuminated puppets, live music, and an evening procession through the high street.

One of those slightly magical, blink-and-you’ll-miss-it kind of evenings.

Free, and worth the short trip.
Sat 18 April, from ~7.30pm

This Sunday, a seafront walk full of stories
Starting at the Eastbourne Lifeboat Museum at 11am, this 90-minute guided walk brings the promenade, pier and Wish Tower to life.

It’s completely free, no booking needed, and runs every second Sunday through to October.

Sun 12 April - 11am
Just turn up.

Sunset yoga, with a view
A peaceful one for an evening — a free sunset yoga session at Beachy Head, hosted by Beachy Head Ambassadors.
It starts at 6.30pm on Wednesday 15 April, at The Beachy Head, and looks like a lovely excuse to pause for an hour and take in the views.

Free to join, but booking is needed (places are limited).
Bring a mat or towel, water, and something warm — it cools quickly once the sun dips.

Fabric destash
Eastbourne Scrap Store is having a big fabric sale at Langney Community Centre, with plenty to sift through — from cottons and prints to heavier upholstery pieces.

A good chance to pick up something useful (or unexpected) at a decent price.
Go with a plan… or don’t. You’ll likely leave with something.

Sat 11 April, 10am–2pm

And one for the early birds…
Things might look a little busier than usual at The Beacon on Friday morning.

A new Søstrene Grene store opens at 9.59am, with a small launch event — live music, a red carpet, and likely a queue forming early for the first 100 free woollen throw vouchers.

Good luck if you’re going.

I hope there’s something here for you this week.

If you know someone who might enjoy it, feel free to share.

Until next time,
From Eastbourne
